Jerry Clark

Chelsea, Oklahoma
Prostate Cancer Survivor

In January 2002, I was diagnosed with cancer of the prostate gland. The male prostate gland helps with urinary control and is involved with sexual functions. Because of pain and passing blood when urinating, I went to a doctor for a thorough physical. Every organ and other critical areas of my physical body proved in excellent condition except a high PSA count. The PSA measures the health of the prostate. The numerical count was 6.2. Normal is considered to be 4.0 or lower. A biopsy into the prostate gland by a highly recommended and respected specialist in Tulsa indicated cancer. The specialist's recommendations were:

  • Immediate surgery
  • Radiation and seed implant
  • Chemotherapy and external radiation
  • Wait 90 days to make a decision

I was not comfortable with any of the first three recommendations. But, ultimately, I knew I had to make a decision.

During the next 90 days and several following weeks, my faith was severely tested. Cancer, the big C word, puts fear in the hearts of so many people. The medical community and the American education system have instilled in the minds and hearts of people that their view of the human body is paramount. No other source of knowledge should be considered nor compared with them.

Fortunately, I have studied God's healing power and have seen Him perform many miracles of healing in people's physical bodies. So, my choice was to go to the source of knowledge God. I spent much time in prayer, particularly asking for wisdom and direction. I am strong in faith but don't want to get into foolishness, nor presumption. My faith in God's healing power is based on my experience of His Word. Many people believe that God still heals today. But the bottom line question is "Will God heal me in this particular circumstance?" After all, it is me, my body and my life! My very life and existence hangs in the balance. What decision shall I make? So I went to the Bible, God's written Word:

"For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6

"How blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding."
Proverbs 3:13

"Where there is no counsel the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is victory (safety and wisdom)."
Proverbs 11:14

There are so many scriptures concerning wisdom and counsel in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and so many other Bible books. So, exactly what wisdom do I accept and apply? Whose counsel do I accept? Certainly the few people that I sought counsel from were all sincere and serious. But, were they giving me Godly counsel? Again, I had to spend hours in God's Word to judge their counsel by His Word. It soon became obvious that I had to be very selective about who I asked for counsel. Love and sincerity does not necessarily bring wise, godly counsel, even from Holy Spirit-filled Christians!

During this time, I was told of Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). I reviewed their written material and treatment techniques and chose their holistic approach to treatment. Also, during this time, I made it a point to be prayed for by a select few of the most noted and respected Christian ministers of healing. My wife prayed for me. I prayed for myself. I took a stand of faith in God and His Word.

Needless to say, the criticism of my decision to not accept the doctor's counsel was very, very strong from many, many relatives, friends and those who consider themselves knowledgeable, mature Christians. I have seen and experienced God's miracles of healing numerous times in my 21 years of ministry. My decision:

"It is my turn for my God to express His supernatural healing power in my body. I will stand in faith for my healing."

But common sense tells me, I should use wisdom as part of my faith. What wisdom shall I use? What is wisdom, what is presumptuous thinking, and sometimes, pure foolishness? Back to God's Word, the Bible.

"But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth and knowledge will increase."
Daniel 12:4

"Every good thing bestowed and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, from whom there is no variation, or turning."
James 1:17

By these two scriptures, I conclude that doctors, hospitals, medicine, and all that is involved in modern medicine is inspired of God. So, I take full advantage of these facilities. Remember, Luke, who wrote the Gospel of Luke and Book of Acts, was a physician. God has always used physicians. But He also uses His supernatural power for healing. I have experienced His supernatural healing power in a matter of minutes many, many times when ministering healing to an individual. So, why hasn't He healed me instantly? I don't know! If you know, please inform me (with Scriptural support of your statements) so I can learn from the experience.

Prayer, diet control, nutrition tablets, exercise, loss of excessive weight and sonar chiropractic treatment are all making a noticeable difference. Like everyone else, I prefer the instant miracle of healing. But my healing is following the Scripture of John 4:52, "So he inquired of them the hour in which he "began to get better."

I "began to get better" when I made the decision to accept and stand on the truth of God's healing power. Seeking wisdom, using common sense by following the treatment at CTCA, which included food supplements, diet control, consistent exercise, spiritual and mental/emotional counsel, etc. are all contributing toward my complete healing. I still have the prostate gland. It is functioning well. There has been no surgical elimination of organs. Cancer is conquered! Praise God! I welcome your questions, comments or other replies.
