Impossible? No Way

For nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37

Do you sometimes feel as though you're asking God to do the impossible? Well, this verse reassures us that with God, nothing is impossible. Mary, the mother of Jesus, needed an angel to affirm this fact to her, too. She had been told that she would conceive a Son, whom she would name "Jesus." After the Holy Spirit came upon her, small cells in her womb began dividing. Those cells grew into a baby who would grow up to be the Savior of the world.

God knows all about the cells in our bodies, just as He knew Mary's. Cancer is a fight at the cellular level. When the doctors examine a patient, one of those examinations includes studying the slides of a patient's cancer cells. Cells may become distorted or misshapen or their functions may be changed. When we are fighting cancer, we're often fighting with those miniscule parts of our bodies, the cells. And God reassures us that nothing is impossible with those cells when He is in charge.

Nothing is out of the scope of God's power. So pray, believing that God is capable of doing miracles. As long as it is consistent with his character, nothing is impossible with God. God still does miracles today. He heals people with cancer every day. And when He doesn't choose to do the miracle the way we desire, just as a parent doesn't always chose to give a child everything that child desires, He will give the grace to cope with His divine choice. Our part is to tell the Lord our heart's desires, and trust his judgment. If God answers our prayers the way we would like Him to, we give Him the glory. If God answers our prayers in a way that's not to our liking, He also gives us the grace to cope with that answer. But nothing is outside the realm of possibility with God as long as it is consistent with his character. As Mary said, "With God, nothing is impossible."
